Finding Hope, Inspiration and Encouragement

Why Prayer Is the Underrated Secret to a Calmer, Happier Life

All things work together for good!

Prayer and Peace – They Work Together

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Prayer Does So Many Things for Us

  • Shifts our focus from worry to trust.
  • Calms our mind while centering our hearts.
  • It’s the presence of God, not the absence of trouble.
  • Realigns our priorities, reminding us of what truly matters.

Prayer reduces anxiety

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 NIV

Prayer brings hope and emotional stability

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33 NIV

What would happen if you started your day with a 5 minute prayer that creates inner peace? Try it! I certainly can’t hurt.

  1. Pray simple prayers – Thank you God; I will be at peace; or, God is always with me.
  2. Use the Word of God to pray – “I will set my mind on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2 NIV
  3. Pray before you react – “God, help me” is a great example. It is short, easy to remember and gives you that moment to be calm and reconsider.
  4. Peace and Prayer go hand-in-hand. They work together for your good.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV

Every day, practice peace and prayer.

In the darkest days of my life, prayer has carried me through as it turned my focus off the negative and refocused on God’s love, presence and continual care for me.
